Week 6B: Reach vs. Engagement

Facebook Insights: Reach vs. Post Engagement

When using Facebook insights, it is important to know the difference between Reach and Post Engagements. Reach tracks the amount of people who see your post while Engagement tracks how many people are interacting with your post in the form of clicks. For example they may like, share, or comment on your post. They may even click on your page to find out more in formation about your business or service. These are all post engagements.
It is important to know the difference between these so that you know how effective you are with your target audience. Are they only viewing your posts and skipping right by them? Are your posts interesting enough? Does your audience find them annoying? You may find ways to help get viewers to interact more with your business. If you have posts that have lots of engagement then you know what your audience is enjoying. This can also help to steer you in the right direction when thinking about what your next post might be.

A business can use Facebook Insights to better serve their customer by posting about new promotions, a coupon code, or an upcoming event where they can try out your product or service in person. You can get a better understanding of what your target audience reacts to and use that to boost your posts.
