Week 12 - Other Social Media

Week 12 - Using Other Social Media

There are many sites that are great for helping grow your bussiness but they are not all created equal.

YELP

In the beginning when my husband and I first started throwing ideas around about how we can spread the word about our business, many social media options came to mind. Although Yelp has a great reputation and has grown to be a giant, this road was not for us. We did try working with Yelp thinking that the amount of people who would find us would be huge because so many people use. We even went as far as to invest in there business ads. We really didn't see the investment working for us and eventually terminated our agreement early. Yelp still continues to call us trying to pull us back in. All in all, I have found that having a few organic 5 star reviews has been enough to get leads from Yelp.

GROUPON

Groupon would be a great way to promote and gain business if you are ok with keeping your prices low. The attraction to consumers using sites like Groupon and Living Social is that they can buy a product or service and get a deal. I find it very hard to make money when you have to compete with other businesses that are charging such low amounts for their services. It makes me think that they are new business who are starting to grow and get brand recognition or just companies who do not know how to promote well and get desperate for business.

PINTEREST

Pinterest is a social media site that I have often considered using. I did even create an account in the very beginning of growing our business just in case I decided to use it. When you think of photo booths you do not usually think of using a DIY/Crafty site but then again Pinterest uses pictures similar to Instagram. When someone is looking up "DIY photo booth" they may come across a few pictures from an actually photo booth businesses site. If they love the pictures and decide to click them, they could be redirected to your site and find that you can do it WAY better then they could ever do it! Then the decide to contact you and BAM, new business!
